2K Games Quietly Removed From Steam

2K’s OlliOlli World and Rollerdrome have been unexpectedly removed from Steam. Despite both games having very positive user reviews, there was no prior warning of this. Released in 2022 and developed by Roll7, the games were quietly removed from digital stores following major changes to 2K’s affiliated Private Division.

The Future of 2K Games Is Uncertain

While their Steam pages are currently accessible, both games are reportedly listed as “unavailable” on the store. A similar situation is occurring on other platforms. OlliOlli World has been removed from the Nintendo eShop and Microsoft Store. Rollerdrome, on the other hand, was removed from the Microsoft Store, but was never released on Nintendo Switch. Interestingly, both games are still available for purchase on the PlayStation Store. However, it is unclear how long this will last.

There has been no announcement yet as to whether the games will be re-released. The closure of Private Division at the end of 2024 and Take-Two’s transfer of its shares in the studio make the future of both games uncertain.

In recent years, games being removed from digital stores has become a common occurrence. Players can lose access to their favorite games due to reasons such as publisher changes, rights losses, or studio closures. For example, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game was removed from digital stores for years and was only re-released by Ubisoft after fan backlash.

This situation once again shows that digital games are not as reliable as physical copies. While players who already own OlliOlli World and Rollerdrome are not affected by this situation, these two games are currently unavailable for those who are considering purchasing them.

The fact that there has been no official statement from 2K or Private Division has caused disappointment among players. While the uncertainty about the future of the games continues, fans are hoping that these titles will be re-released with another publisher. During this period, PlayStation users being able to access games could be an opportunity for users of other platforms.
