A New Game Is On The Way For Friday The 13th
Friday the 13th, one of the legendary horror series, is preparing to re-enter the gaming world after years of silence. Speaking at San Diego Comic Con 2025, Horror Inc. Vice President Robbie Barsamian officially announced that a new Friday the 13th game is in development. While it’s not yet known who developed the game or what its gameplay will be, the mere fact that Jason Voorhees will be returning to the digital world has already excited fans of the series.
Friday the 13th Is Returning, But How?
According to Barsamian, both a new film and a new video game are on Horror Inc.’s top priorities. However, details are currently quite limited. No information has been released regarding the development studio or the game genre. This raises questions about whether the game will be a classic multiplayer survival game or a more cinematic single-player experience.
As you may recall, Friday the 13th: The Game, released in 2017, attracted considerable attention with its asymmetrical multiplayer structure similar to Dead by Daylight, but was shelved early due to licensing issues. This suggests that a multiplayer option for the new project could be a bit risky, especially considering the abundance of similar horror games on the market.
The recent success of single-player horror games like Hellraiser: Revival suggests Horror Inc. could pursue a similar path. The series’ cinematic narrative potential and the cult status of Jason could provide a strong foundation for presenting players with a more immersive, story-driven experience.
There’s no official announcement regarding when the new game will be announced or which platforms it will be released on. However, Barsamian’s statement that “both projects are currently in active development” suggests that more details will emerge in the near future. Expectations are high, and tensions are high: Jason is returning.
