A New Series Begins with Dexter: Resurrection

The Dexter series, whose finale was a huge disappointment, recovered somewhat with New Blood in 2021, but could not fully satisfy the audience. Now, Michael C. Hall is returning to the screens with the Dexter: Resurrection series. The first trailer released introduces the character’s survival, his relationship with his son Harrison, and a brand new group of serial killers to the audience. This new production focuses on a dark father-son story set in New York while preserving the spirit of the original series.

Dexter: Resurrection Reunites Dexter and Harrison

Dexter: Resurrection begins immediately after the events of New Blood. Dexter, who was knocked to the ground by his son’s bullet, wakes up from a coma in a hospital weeks later and learns that Harrison has disappeared. Feeling the weight of the mistakes he made in the past, Dexter sets off for New York to find his son and fix everything. However, the past does not leave him alone. Angel Batista from Miami Metro also comes on his trail to confront Dexter.

In the trailer, Batista’s questioning of Dexter as the Bay Harbor Butcher signals that the series will return to the criminal side. Dexter finds himself facing not only his son but also his past. Harrison, on the other hand, struggles with his own inner darkness. As the ghosts from Dexter’s past resurface, the father-son relationship moves on new and dangerous ground.

In the new season, Dexter encounters a group of serial killers. The members of this group include stars such as Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, Uma Thurman and Peter Dinklage. The relationships Dexter will establish with these characters strengthen the dramatic structure of the series while also preserving the classic “hunter chooses his prey” dynamic. The possibility that Dexter will hunt them down one by one is clearly felt in the trailer.

The series is produced by Clyde Phillips, who led the original series. Michael C. Hall plays the lead role, accompanied by Jack Alcott (Harrison), David Zayas (Batista), Uma Thurman, Peter Dinklage and James Remar. Dexter: Resurrection will begin airing on Paramount+ with two episodes on July 11, and will then be shown on television on July 13. This new season is a candidate to both bring closure to the series and breathe new life into the Dexter universe.
