ARC Raiders Team Prepares 10-Year Roadmap
ARC Raiders, which has already caught the attention of gamers before its release, is now in the spotlight not only for its gameplay but also for its long-term goals. Developer Embark Studios has announced that they envision the game not as a short-term experience, but as a ten-year project. Design lead Virgil Watkins, while describing the studio’s plans, made his claims clear: “ARC Raiders is a 10-year game for us.”
Embark Studios Aims to Make ARC Raiders a Long-Term Universe
According to Embark Studios’ statement, ARC Raiders will not only be an “extraction shooter” but also the foundation of a game world that can expand over the years. Watkins stated that the team has long defined the project as a “10-year game,” and that this vision has influenced every decision, from content planning to the frequency of updates.
This long-term approach is considered a particularly ambitious goal, especially for online-based games. In today’s gaming market, maintaining a game for 10 years requires both community support and a constant stream of content. Watkins didn’t share the details of the plan but maintained a cautious stance, saying, “We don’t want to be in a situation where we can’t make a promise and deliver.”
Even before its release, ARC Raiders began to draw comparisons to genre giants like Escape from Tarkov. The game, which received positive feedback from players during the Server Slam testing period, is notable for its atmosphere and mechanics. Furthermore, Embark Studios emphasizes that despite the game being paid, they will “provide players with ample rewards” in the long run.
Of course, a 10-year roadmap carries significant risk. If player numbers decline within a few years, these plans could be disrupted. However, Embark Studios’ vision is clear: ARC Raiders isn’t just a launch title; it’s the beginning of a universe that will evolve over the years.
