Avengers: Doomsday Writer Wants to See Glen Powell in the MCU

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has welcomed many stars to its ranks since 2008. However, some characters are still waiting to be brought to the big screen. In a recent interview, Avengers: Doomsday screenwriter Michael Waldron shared his dream of Glen Powell joining the MCU. Furthermore, he has a character in mind that would be a perfect fit for the renowned actor.

Michael Waldron Wants to See Glen Powell Play Nova

Michael Waldron expressed his admiration for the actor, saying, “Glen Powell would be a perfect fit for the role.” Waldron also worked with Powell on the project “Chad Powers” and was deeply impressed by the actor’s energy. The screenwriter argued that the long-awaited Nova character in the Marvel universe should finally be given the recognition he deserves.

Waldron hinted that Marvel will refocus on cosmic themes in the upcoming era. The fact that the Nova Corps already exists in the MCU timeline provides a suitable backdrop for the character’s arrival. Since Richard Rider’s story takes place in the same universe as the Guardians of the Galaxy films, Glen Powell’s energetic style would be a natural fit for this role.

Glen Powell, however, stated that he has not received any offers from Marvel or DC to date. “I haven’t received any calls, but I’m a huge fan of everything they do,” Powell said, adding that he would gladly consider such an opportunity if it arose. The actor’s performances in films like The Running Man and Top Gun: Maverick make him a strong candidate for an action-oriented character.

The Nova series was originally slated for development in 2022, but was put on hold in early 2025 due to Marvel Studios’ shifting priorities. However, the studio’s restructuring suggests that such projects could resurface in the future. If the Nova project does come back to life, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Glen Powell frequently mentioned in the role.

For now, Marvel remains quiet. However, statements like these from insiders like Waldron are generating considerable excitement among fans. Who knows, maybe we’ll actually see Glen Powell in the Nova costume in the next Marvel Universe expansion.
