Baldur’s Gate 3 New Subclasses Detailed

Larian Studios has released a video detailing four of the 12 subclasses coming to Baldur’s Gate 3 when Patch 8 is finally released.

Released in 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to be a huge hit, selling over 15 million copies and bringing in a profit of over $250 million to Larian Studios. After the official release, Larian continued to support Baldur’s Gate 3 regularly with consistent updates, which brought many fixes, official mod support, new features, and more to the popular Dungeons and Dragons inspired role playing game.

Now, Larian Studios has released a short video showcasing four of the 12 new subclasses expected as part of Baldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 8, giving players their first glimpse of the College of Glamour Bard, Path of Giants Barbarian, Death Domain Cleric, and Circle of The Stars Druid. The College of Glamour Bard draws inspiration from the Feywild and has abilities that can give allies temporary HP, or make enemies flee, move closer, or even drop their weapons. The Path of Giants Barbarian can throw things at huge distances and also boasts increased carry capacity. Alternatively, the Death Clerics get Necromancy inspired new Cantrips such as Toll the Dead. Finally, the Circle of the Stars Druids will have additional new forms inspired by the cosmos. The other eight classes, which cover the rest of the base classes in the game, will likely be featured in future videos.

Baldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 8 was officially revealed in 2024, and it will also include other subclasses such as the Arcane Archer Fighter, Oath of the Crown Paladin, Swarmkeeper Ranger, Drunken Master Monk, Shadow Magic Sorcerer, Bladesinging Wizard, Swashbuckler Rogue, and the Hexblade Warlock. Another highlight of Patch 8 is the introduction of Photo Mode to Baldur’s Gate 3, which many fans are eagerly anticipating.

Patch 8 does not have an official release date but it won’t be long to Patch 8 eventually make it’s way to the base game. Last month, Larian Studios started the stress test for Baldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 8, which was available to select players on all platforms. The stress test will help the developers find and fix more bugs, and it’s possible that the final version of Patch 8 will be available to all players sometime during the next few weeks.
