Battlefield 6 Smoke Grenade Looks Incomplete
In Battlefield 6, players have now gained access to high-ranking equipment, but one of these new vehicles hasn’t lived up to expectations. The LWCMS portable mortar system, unlocked at level 49 for the support class, can use smoke munitions to “conceal troop movements.” However, in practice, things don’t work that way. According to players, the smoke cloud created by this munitions is so small it wouldn’t even cover a soldier’s knee.
Battlefield 6 Players: “This Fog Can’t Even Hide an Ant!”
In a video shared by TikTok user Hypedreamzgaming, it’s clear that the LWCMS mortar’s smoke munitions are almost cosmetic. Players point out that the smoke cloud only covers the size of a small bush, making it less likely to obscure team movements than to be noticeable.
Comments on a Reddit thread about the issue were harsh. One player said, “This is truly insulting, completely useless,” while another asked, “Is this fog made for ants?” One user even poked fun at the game’s shortcomings, saying, “Even the vape clouds 13-year-olds blow in front of Target are bigger than this.”
While the Battlefield series is known for its large-scale maps and impressive atmosphere, such details have shaken player expectations. Players point out that traditional smoke grenades and hand launchers create much larger and more persistent fog fields, making the mortar system unnecessary.
A growing consensus within the community is that some of Battlefield 6’s features have been rushed. One Reddit user summarized the situation:
“The game is generally good, but no matter how much I play it, I feel like it needs another six months of development time.”
Battlefield 6 is still evolving with content and balance updates. However, the smoke mortar example has reinforced suspicions that some systems weren’t adequately tested at launch. It appears players won’t be using the equipment much for now, other than providing escape routes for mice.
