Beyond Good and Evil 2 Release Seems Far Away

Ubisoft’s long-awaited game Beyond Good and Evil 2 continues to have one of the longest development times in gaming. First announced in 2008 and left unfinished for years, a new report about the game suggests that its release date is still a long way off. According to Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, the game is currently making “good progress,” but it’s still lagging behind Ubisoft’s other big projects. That means the game could be released in 2027 at the earliest.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 Development Issues

Beyond Good and Evil 2 stands out as one of the games with the longest development times. In 2022, it broke the previous record for “longest development time,” surpassing Duke Nukem Forever. The game’s development problems have repeatedly dashed fans’ hopes. However, Ubisoft offered fans some small consolation last year when it released the Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition. While this special edition seemed to contain some hints for the new game, it fell short of meeting expectations for a full-fledged sequel.

The first version of the game was released in 2003 and received full marks from critics. However, due to Ubisoft’s marketing strategies at the time, it did not achieve the expected commercial success. The game, which has become a cult classic over the years, has excited fans with news of a sequel, but this expectation has not been met for a long time.

Although Beyond Good and Evil 2 is considered one of Ubisoft’s most ambitious projects, the years-long development process increases the uncertainty about the game’s future. According to Henderson’s report, this game is not on Ubisoft’s list of projects planned to be released until 2026. This means that fans will have to wait at least two more years.

If Ubisoft can meet fans’ expectations after this long wait, Beyond Good and Evil 2 could have an unforgettable place in the gaming world. However, for now, fans will have to wait patiently. No official statement has been made about the game’s future yet.
