Bloodborne Fan Project Removed, Remake Rumors Sparked

Sony has added another legal measure to projects developed by Bloodborne fans. The Bloodborne PSX project was notable for being a demake that adapted the PlayStation aesthetics of the 1990s to modern gaming. However, this project was removed by Sony due to copyright claims. This situation, just like the legal action against the 60 FPS patch project before, has strengthened the rumors that a Bloodborne remake or remaster may be in the works.

Bloodborne Remake Possibilities Are Increasing

Bloodborne PSX was a fan project that sought to answer the question of “How would we see Bloodborne on PlayStation 1?” and was highly acclaimed. However, Sony’s intervention in this project and the 60 FPS patch previously developed by Lance McDonald is interpreted as the company having serious plans for the Bloodborne brand.

Mod developer Lance McDonald, in a post on social media, interpreted Sony’s interventions as preparations for a possible remake announcement. McDonald said, “If Sony wants to trademark terms like ‘Bloodborne remake’ or ‘Bloodborne 60fps’, it needs to clean up these types of fan projects.”

Bloodborne will celebrate its 10th anniversary next month. However, the game has not received an official remaster, PC version or sequel to date. Considering that Sony has previously updated games like The Last of Us and Uncharted with remakes, it may not be a surprise that Bloodborne will undergo a similar process.

On the other hand, Shuhei Yoshida, one of Sony’s former executives, stated in a statement he made in recent months that Bloodborne’s creative director Hidetaka Miyazaki was too busy to re-join the project. Yoshida also added that Miyazaki did not want to hand the project over to someone else. Sony has yet to make any official announcements about any remake or remaster projects related to Bloodborne.
