Those waiting for the PlayStation and Xbox versions of Cities: Skylines II will have to be a little more patient. However, in its latest statement, the development team announced that the game will not be released before the summer months.

Cities: Skylines II Console Release Delayed

Reasons for the Delay of Cities: Skylines II

Colossal Order stated in an official forum post that the console version of the game is not ready yet. The statement said, “We know that many players are eagerly waiting for the console version. However, in order to clarify expectations, we would like to state that there will be no release before the summer. Our goal is to deliver Cities: Skylines II to consoles in the best possible way.”

The reasons for this delay include fixing the game’s performance and stability issues. It was also announced that planned features such as the game’s asset editor are still unfinished due to technical issues.

Colossal Order, which created a strong player base with the original Cities: Skylines, is receiving mixed reactions from the community for the sequel. Despite the success of the first game, the technical problems experienced in the sequel and the problematic release of the first DLC caused disappointment among players. This situation led to a toxic environment that even led to personal attacks against some members of the development team.

Although the development team did not announce a definite release date, it stated that it should be waited until the summer months. The PC version of the game was released in October 2023, and the console version is aimed to meet the same quality standards. While Cities: Skylines II aims to take an important place among city-building simulations, the development team continues to work in order to provide an experience that meets the expectations of the players.
