Crimson Desert Surprises with Its Reality
Pearl Abyss is preparing to set a new standard in the gaming world with Crimson Desert, scheduled for release in 2025. The development team showcased the game’s physics engine and detailed world at GDC 2025. Set in the medieval high fantasy world of Pywel, Crimson Desert offers astonishing realism with both visual and physical details.
Crimson Desert and its Extraordinary Physics Engine
Crimson Desert is being prepared with an improved version of the custom game engine that the development team previously used for Black Desert Online. During the introduction at GDC 2025, the team showed how advanced the game’s physics engine is. For example, the effect of wind on fabric and hair, the harmony of light with shadows, and the effect of different weather conditions on environmental elements were conveyed in detail.

One of the most striking moments of the trailer was the scene where a horse enters the water. The fact that only the parts of the horse that come into contact with water get wet and that these details are accurately reflected after it comes out of the water offered players a unique reality. Such details clearly reveal how advanced the game’s physics engine is.
The game tells the story of a mercenary named Kliff. Kliff embarks on difficult conflicts and dangerous missions to prevent Pywel from falling into chaos. The game’s open world combines exploration, combat, and storytelling, aiming to offer players an immersive experience.
Crimson Desert will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms towards the end of 2025. Pearl Abyss states that the game is ambitious not only in terms of visuals and technical aspects, but also in terms of story. Crimson Desert, which brings an innovative touch to the gaming world, has already managed to become one of the most anticipated productions of the year with its realism and attention to detail.
