Diablo 4 Will Continue For Many Years, What About Diablo 5?

Blizzard’s well-known name Rod Fergusson stated at the DICE Summit 2025 in Las Vegas that Diablo 4 will be supported for many years. While Fergusson emphasized that the game will be constantly renewed with regular updates, seasons and expansions, he did not give any clear indication of when Diablo 5 will arrive. According to Fergusson, Diablo 4 was designed as a long-term live service game and the future of the series will be shaped accordingly.

Diablo 4 Will Continue For Many Years, What About Diablo 5?

Diablo 4’s Live Service Strategy

Rod Fergusson stated that Diablo 4 takes a different approach from other games and is designed entirely as a live service game. Blizzard aims to keep the game’s expansion plans flexible. Fergusson also announced that Diablo 4’s second expansion, Vessel of Hatred, has been delayed to 2026. The reason for this was shown as the team’s focus on post-launch updates for the game.

Blizzard will announce its content roadmap and plans for future seasons in order to better evaluate players’ time. Fergusson stated that players have spent hundreds of hours on the game and said that a transparent approach is important. He also added that work is ongoing to make Diablo 4’s updates and new content testable not only on PC but also on consoles.

Considering the long gaps between previous games in the Diablo series, it was clearly stated that there will be no rush for Diablo 5. Fergusson said that Diablo 4 should remain current for years and that it would be wrong to make early predictions about the future of the series. However, Fergusson implied that Diablo 5 is inevitable and stated that they will start working on a new game when the time is right.

This long-term plan that Blizzard created for Diablo 4 shows that the game “may not be infinite” but will be with players for a very long time. The roadmap that players are eagerly waiting for will be announced in April.
