Dragon Age The Veilguard Will Reflect Your Past Choices in the Expansion Pack
Fans of the Dragon Age series know that your choices in the past matter a lot. But only three key decisions will carry over from Dragon Age: Inquisition to The Veilguard, only three key decisions will carry over. While this may be disappointing for some fans, BioWare’s goal of providing a more accessible experience for new players seems to be behind this change.
Traces of the Past in The Veilguard
The new game, The Veilguard, will offer a more limited choice transfer than previous games in the series. Three critical choices made in Dragon Age: Inquisition will carry over three critical choices made in the new game. These choices will be the decision to disband the Inquisition, whether or not to save Solas, and your Inquisitor’s romantic relationship. BioWare says this limited list of choices is intended to provide a starting point free of the story baggage of the previous games.
This could be a positive change for new players. Even if you’ve never played Inquisition, you can get a quick grasp of the story thanks to a feature in the game called “The Adventurer’s Past”. A few simple choices made through Tarot cards will help shape your past during the character creation phase.
BioWare prefers to ignore some of players’ past choices rather than carry them over completely. This could be part of the developer’s strategy to attract new audiences and make the game more accessible. The Veilguard will be set in Northern Thedas, offering a fresh start away from the convoluted storylines of Ferelden and previous games.
While this may be a difficult change for some veterans to get used to, BioWare’s decision makes sense in terms of the overall flow of the game and its accessibility for new audiences. Do you think BioWare’s approach is the right one?
