Dragon Quest 7 Remake On The Way
Rumors are rife that Square Enix will add another remake to its roster of remakes. While not officially confirmed yet, rumors of a Dragon Quest 7 remake have begun to spread rapidly in the gaming world. It’s being suggested that the long-awaited release of this classic JRPG for modern consoles could be announced much sooner than anticipated.
When Could the Dragon Quest 7 Remake Arrive?
Originally released on PlayStation 1 and later ported to Nintendo 3DS, Dragon Quest 7: Fragments of the Forgotten Past is considered one of the most overlooked and long-overlooked games in the series. According to a report by MP1st, a new remake of the game is in the works, and it could involve much more than a simple graphical update. Leaked internal documents indicate that the game could be released sometime this fiscal year, or early next year at the latest.
The report also states that a short promotional video, believed to be produced by Square Enix, shows the Dragon Quest 7 logo against a cloudy background. It’s speculated that this image could be used as part of the company’s marketing campaign. Considering the company’s recent efforts to revive classic JRPGs, these claims seem quite plausible.
Nevertheless, rumors about Square Enix’s projects should always be approached with caution. The upcoming release of the HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest 1 & 2 on October 30th, and the ongoing development of Dragon Quest 12, puts a significant strain on the company’s schedule. However, given the alleged timeline, an official announcement may not be far off.
If this remake materializes, Dragon Quest 7 will be playable again with modern graphics. The original game was notable for its length and story; whether these elements will be retained in the new version remains to be seen. For now, all eyes are on a potential announcement from Square Enix.
