DualSense Can Now Connect to Four Devices Simultaneously
Sony has added a significant feature to its DualSense controllers with the new update released for the PS5. Players can now register their controllers to four different devices simultaneously and switch between them with a single button combination, eliminating the need to re-pair each time. This feature is particularly convenient for players using the DualSense on PC, Mac, or mobile devices. Switching from PS5 to Steam and then to iPhone will now be much faster and more convenient.
How Does DualSense Multi-Device Support Work?
The new feature relies on a system of “slots” on your controller, which are allocated to different devices. Each slot is registered by pressing a specific action button along with the PS button. Then, by pressing the same combination along with the PS button again, you can connect to that device. Sony has also configured the indicator lights to indicate which device they are connected to.
- Slot 1: PS + Triangle › One light (e.g., PS5)
- Slot 2: PS + Circle › Two lights (e.g., PS5 Pro)
- Slot 3: PS + X › Three lights (e.g., Windows PC)
- Slot 4: PS + Square › Four lights (e.g., iPhone)
The feature, which was in testing earlier this summer, is now available to all users. Sony has also added a power saving option with the new update. This feature, which can be enabled via Settings > System > Power Saving > Use Power Saving, will be available in future games like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Demon’s Souls, and Ghost of Yotei. More games are expected to be integrated into this system in the future.
The DualSense’s ability to connect to four devices simultaneously saves players both time and provides ease of use. Players, especially those active on different platforms, will now have a seamless experience without having to re-pair each device. This transforms the DualSense from a mere PS5 accessory into a versatile gaming controller.
