First Images Released from ANACONDA Reboot
Released in 1997 and a box office success despite receiving mixed reviews, Anaconda has become a cult film over the years. The original, starring Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, and Jon Voight, blended horror and suspense with the exotic atmosphere of the Amazon jungle. Now, this classic is set to return to the big screen with a new twist.
A New Anaconda Starring Paul Rudd and Jack Black
The new film stars Paul Rudd and Jack Black as Doug and Griff, two close friends. Dreaming of remaking their childhood favorite, Anaconda, their adventure in the Amazon jungle turns into a real-life nightmare. During filming, a giant anaconda turns the film set into a deadly struggle for survival.
The film is directed by Tom Gormican, known for his 2022 film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Rudd describes the script as “clever” and states that its meta approach appealed to him. Jack Black says working with Rudd was a major reason he accepted the project. The duo emphasizes that the film will combine elements of both horror and comedy.
Rudd says he hasn’t worked on such a comprehensive project with Jack Black in a long time and that working together was incredibly enjoyable. Black, on the other hand, shares his excitement for the project, saying, “He’s both very funny and an incredibly good person.” The cast also includes Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior, Selton Mello, and Steve Zahn.
Anaconda will be released in theaters on December 25th. While the giant anaconda isn’t visible in the first few shots, it’s believed the film’s trailer will be released soon, saving the real surprise for later. This reboot will take both old fans of the series and new generations of viewers on a thrilling journey into the depths of the Amazon.
