Free Fan-Made Halo Game: Containment
The Halo universe is back in the spotlight, this time with a fan-made game. Released under the name Containment, this free-to-play game combines both the classic FPS experience and virtual reality support. Completed over four years by developer Harry Williams (Firing Pin Studios), the project preserves the atmosphere of Halo while offering players a brand new adventure.
Containment Breathes New Life into the Halo Universe with Fan-made Artwork
Despite being a completely independently developed FPS, Containment boasts a quality comparable to professional productions. The game follows a dark story set on a mysterious space station. Players take on the role of a new character searching for a lost ally. However, the threats they encounter as they progress through the station turn this mission into a fight for survival.
The game can be played with both classic FPS and VR support. This is one of the key features that distinguishes Containment from other fan projects. The visual atmosphere evokes the chilly sci-fi tone of Halo: Combat Evolved, while also skillfully blending elements of horror. Players feel the tension build as they delve deeper into the space station.
Harry Williams states that he developed the game entirely himself and that the project is the product of four years of intensive work. Published under the label Firing Pin Studios, the game features powerful lighting effects and realistic weapon mechanics thanks to its Unreal Engine-based technical structure. Furthermore, the game is free to download and, despite not having any official Halo license, is currently unblocked by Microsoft.
Containment isn’t the only Halo fan-made game released this year. Another Halo project, a bullet-hell game similar to Vampire Survivors, was also unveiled this summer. However, Containment’s atmosphere, detailed gameplay, and VR support have made it a fan favorite. Players are saying they shouldn’t miss out on this experience, lest Microsoft intervene in any potential copyright infringement.
