Game Consoles Special Snapdragon G-Series Introduced
Qualcomm has introduced its new Snapdragon G-Series processors developed for portable game consoles. The series includes three different chipsets: Snapdragon G3 Gen 3, Snapdragon G2 Gen 2, and Snapdragon G1 Gen 2. Each of these new processors, which target different price and performance segments, offer features that will attract the attention of gamers. Qualcomm’s move could create significant competition in the portable game device market dominated by AMD.
Features of Snapdragon G-Series Processors
Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 stands out as the most powerful processor in the series. Offering a 30% faster CPU and 28% more powerful graphics performance than the previous generation, this chipset targets high-end portable game consoles. Equipped with eight Kryo cores (one main, five performance, two efficiency cores) and Adreno A32 GPU, the G3 Gen 3 supports Wi-Fi 7 and a 144Hz screen refresh rate at QHD+ resolution. These features promise high performance in high-end devices.
Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 offers a balance between performance and efficiency. This model, which has a core structure similar to the G3 Gen 3, optimizes power consumption with more efficiency cores. Graphics performance is 3.8 times faster than the previous generation. G2 Gen 2 is expected to be used in more budget-friendly devices.
Snapdragon G1 Gen 2, on the other hand, focuses on cloud-based gaming experiences. Equipped with two performance and six efficiency cores, this processor aims to offer a basic gaming experience at a low cost. G1 Gen 2 will be seen especially in price-oriented game consoles.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon G-Series processors will compete with AMD’s Phoenix APUs in portable gaming devices. Brands such as AYANEO and OneXPlayer have already started to integrate G-Series processors into their devices. Qualcomm’s success in this segment seems to depend on competitive pricing and performance advantages.
