Gears of War and State of Decay 3 Coming to PS5

The Gears of War series, known as an Xbox exclusive, may be getting ready to launch for PlayStation players. According to new claims, both Gears of War: E-Day and State of Decay 3 are among the projects planned for Sony’s next-generation console, PlayStation 5. Platform information revealed in the developer teams’ bios indicates that Microsoft’s “games for every platform” strategy continues unabated. This development represents a significant opportunity for PS5 players who have not previously experienced either the Gears or State of Decay series.

Is the Gears of War Series Now for Everyone?

Gears of War: E-Day was announced at the Xbox Games Showcase and announced for a 2026 release. However, according to new information, the game may not be limited to Xbox and PC. The mention of “PlayStation 5” in one developer’s bio suggests that E-Day may also be released on that platform. While no official announcement has been made yet, such bio information has been proven accurate in the past.

Gears of War and State of Decay 3 Coming to PS5

A similar situation applies to State of Decay 3. The third installment of this zombie-themed survival series, the first two of which were only available on Xbox and PC, has also been listed for the PS5. If true, PlayStation users will be able to access the series for the first time. This is an exciting development, especially for genre enthusiasts.

On the Xbox side, many exclusive games have recently made their way to the PS5. Titles like Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were similarly offered with a cross-platform policy. This strategy aligns with Microsoft’s goal of shifting the Xbox brand from hardware to a focus on services and software.

Meanwhile, Gears of War fans are preparing to welcome the remastered version of the first game to the PS5. This remaster, which will include multiplayer support, could reignite interest in the series. If this popularity continues as expected, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the remaining games in the main trilogy ported to the PS5 as well. An expansion on the PlayStation side seems quite likely before the release of Gears of War: E-Day.
