Ghost of Yotei Kusarigama Gameplay Trailer Released

Sucker Punch Productions’ highly anticipated game, Ghost of Yotei, has once again captured the attention of players with its new gameplay trailer. The trailer highlights Atsu’s mastery of combat scenes, particularly his unique use of the Kusarigama, a weapon added to the game. This weapon, consisting of a sickle and a weight attached to a chain, is ideal for both neutralizing enemies from afar and delivering swift finishing moves at close range.

The Impressive Power of the Kusarigama in Ghost of Yotei

The techniques performed with the Kusarigama are quite striking in the trailer. Atsu demonstrates fluid and cinematic moves, such as rolling over a downed enemy to kill them in one fell swoop, pulling them towards him and performing a swift neck chop. One of the most striking moments is the weapon’s “Flaming Edge” ability, which engulfs enemies in flames. This ability deals damage over time and burns through wooden shields, completely eliminating their defenses.

While the Kusarigama’s flame ability has been compared to the “Way of the Flame” mechanic in Ghost of Tsushima, its range advantage offers a much wider area of effect. This allows players to subdue large groups of enemies with a single move, creating both a tactical advantage and an impressive visual spectacle.

The game will feature not only the Kusarigama but also a wide variety of weapons, including katana, odachi, yari, and dual swords. Sucker Punch recommends, but does not require, players to switch weapons against different enemy types. This allows players to freely pursue their own playstyle.

Ghost of Yotei will be released for PS5 on October 2nd. This latest trailer clearly demonstrates the game’s ambitious design in both visual quality and combat mechanics. The new tactical possibilities and weapon combinations offered by the Kusarigama promise to keep action fans glued to their screens for extended periods.
