Glen Schofield Is Looking for a New Dead Space

The Dead Space series, etched in the annals of horror gaming history, has been quiet for a long time. Series creator Glen Schofield recently revealed that he revived the idea of Dead Space 4, but Electronic Arts showed no interest in the project. Still, Schofield isn’t giving up; he says he’s hopeful for the new opportunities created by EA’s change of ownership.

Dead Space 4 Rejected by EA Again

“I approached EA again, but they said they weren’t interested,” Schofield said in an interview following his speech at the Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show. He explained that he had suggested reuniting his former leadership team and developing Dead Space 4 affordably. “We could use EA Motive’s models, which would save us $30-40 million,” Schofield said, but still didn’t receive the response he expected.

However, the developer believes that EA’s recent acquisition by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners could change things. “I have a few ideas now, and one of them is Dead Space 4. EA could make different decisions with the new owners. I’ve already started discussions,” he said, emphasizing his insistence on reviving the series.

Schofield also stated that the Dead Space franchise shouldn’t be limited to games. He believes this universe could also be adapted to other mediums, such as film and television. “Dead Space needs to be adapted to different media. This universe has much broader potential,” he said.

Although EA has once again closed the door on this idea, Schofield’s determination is striking. While the future of the series currently remains uncertain, the developer’s desire to bring the same atmosphere back to players persists. It seems the Dead Space legend never fully fades in its creator’s mind.
