God of War Fans Might Not Get What They Expected
Sony Santa Monica made an important statement regarding the 20th anniversary events of the God of War series. The studio gave a clear answer regarding the remaster rumors and new announcements that fans were eagerly waiting for, stating that the event was only for celebration purposes and that no new content would be announced. This statement disappointed fans who were especially excited about the claims that the series’ games from the ancient Greek period would be ported to modern platforms.
Behind the God of War Remaster Rumors
In recent months, rumors that the series’ old games would be remastered for PS5 had created great excitement. The claims suggested that the original trilogy from the PlayStation 2 era, PSP games (Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta) and Ascension would be re-presented with modern graphics. In particular, the statements of a reliable name, Jeff Grubb, on this subject had strengthened the rumors.
However, Sony Santa Monica has made it clear that no such announcement will be made at this event. The event will include an art exhibition about the series, a panel with developers, and autograph sessions. The studio emphasized that this event will only focus on the history of the series.
God of War fans have long been demanding that old games be made playable on modern platforms. For this reason, the anniversary event was seen as an opportunity to meet these expectations of the fans. However, the statements made it clear that such projects will not be announced as part of the event. Although this statement from the studio does not mean that the remaster projects have been completely canceled, it reveals that such a development will not happen in the short term.
The twentieth anniversary event will be held at the Nucleus Gallery and will offer a space where artistic content related to the series will be exhibited. In addition, developers and players will have the opportunity to celebrate the nostalgic past of the series. However, this event may be a disappointment for fans who are expecting any new announcements or content.
