Has GTA 6 been postponed to October 2026?
Fans of the Grand Theft Auto series have been eagerly awaiting GTA 6 for a long time. Anticipation peaked with the release of the first trailer in December 2023, but with the announcement that the game had been delayed to May 2026, that excitement gave way to impatience. Now, new rumors suggest that even this date may not be met.
GTA 6 Delay Rumors Grow Strong
The rumors were made by journalist Tom Henderson, known for his reliable leaks in the gaming industry. Speaking on Insider Gaming Weekly, Henderson stated that the game’s May 2026 release date is unlikely and that other discussions are taking place behind the scenes. However, he added that this information is not definitive and should be considered purely speculative.
While Henderson’s statements generated excitement, some content creators are painting a more optimistic picture. YouTuber Luke Stephens claimed that sources close to Rockstar have told him that the studio is still confident in May 2026. This has caused confusion among gamers.
It’s not surprising that Rockstar frequently delays its games. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prime example; the long-awaited game was delayed several times but ultimately delivered a flawless experience both visually and technically. Therefore, while a potential GTA 6 delay might be disappointing, it’s believed it could improve the game’s quality in the long run.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated in a statement last month that they were confident in the May 2026 release date. However, changes in plans are common in the gaming world. While GTA 6’s October 2026 delay is currently just a rumor, Rockstar’s decision to take such a step to ensure a smooth launch wouldn’t surprise anyone. Players can only wait for official announcements.
