Has James Gunn Found the New Wonder Woman?
While Wonder Woman’s future in the DC Cinematic Universe has long been uncertain, James Gunn‘s latest statements indicate that the character’s return is approaching. The Wonder Woman movie was officially announced last June. Afterwards, many actresses’ names began to be mentioned for the new Diana Prince. However, one of the most prominent names among these was Adria Arjona.
Adria Arjona Could Be the New Wonder Woman
Adria Arjona, who has been prominent in productions such as Andor and Hit Man, was frequently suggested by fans for Wonder Woman. These rumors were further fueled when James Gunn followed Arjona on social media. Gunn clarified this issue in an interview with ExtraTV, saying, “I’ve known Adria for years. We shot a movie together. I haven’t followed her recently, but she would be a great Wonder Woman.”
The duo’s history dates back to the 2016 film The Belko Experiment. Arjona played the lead role in this project, which Gunn produced. This professional relationship between them strengthens the possibility that the actress may be one step closer to the role of Wonder Woman. Arjona’s name is frequently mentioned among fans on social media and in the comments areas.
Gunn, one of the founding partners of DC Studios, also attaches great importance to physical harmony in character selection. It is known that he tries to capture a look that is faithful to the comics, as in the Superman film. Wonder Woman, on the other hand, is usually depicted as tall, athletic, Mediterranean-looking and strikingly beautiful in drawings. For this reason, some creative decisions may need to be made in terms of casting.
Although Adria Arjona does not exactly resemble Diana Prince in the comics with her physical features, she stands out as a name that can make up for this deficiency with her strong acting and charisma. While it is known that the Gunn-Safran duo can make radical decisions, it seems possible that the role will be redefined with a new and strong face. Although it has not been made official who Wonder Woman will be, all eyes are now on Adria Arjona.
