Has the Bloodborne Remake Project Hit a Dead End?
Bloodborne has become a cult classic since its release on PlayStation 4 in 2015. Players, especially with the release of the PlayStation 5, were hoping to see a remake of this dark masterpiece. However, recent news suggests that these fan expectations won’t be realized anytime soon.
Is There Still Hope for a Bloodborne Remake?
Reliable source Jeff Grubb spoke about the Bloodborne Remake on the Game Mess podcast. Grubb stated that he recently inquired about the game’s status and received the response, “Nothing is being done with Bloodborne.” This comment was quite disappointing for fans hoping for a remake or a PC release.
The name Bloodborne is one of the first things that comes to mind for gamers at every PlayStation event. While frequent rumors, especially during recent State of Play presentations, have heightened player expectations, the result is always the same: silence. Even FromSoftware’s announcement of The Duskbloods for the Nintendo Switch 2 was initially mistaken for a Bloodborne sequel, but this quickly proved false.
Sony plays a significant role in all this uncertainty. Sony owns all the rights to Bloodborne and is the sole authority on the decision regarding a remake or remaster. While FromSoftware has other major projects under its belt, the lack of any official statement from Sony on this matter further hinders the process.
Furthermore, fan efforts have also faced obstacles. In recent months, Sony issued a DMCA to the modder who developed a 60 FPS mod for Bloodborne. Furthermore, a previously unseen video revealed how the game could have evolved over time. While all these developments prove that the game still has a strong fan base, there’s been no official activity.
It’s clear that Bloodborne remains a must-have for millions of gamers. However, the realistic prospects for a remake or PC version are becoming increasingly questionable. For now, it seems the only thing left to do is wait for Sony to break this silence.
