Is Assassin’s Creed Shadows Coming to Switch 2?

Statements made at Ubisoft’s latest earnings call suggest that Assassin’s Creed Shadows may not be limited to existing platforms. The game, already announced for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, appears to be eyeing Nintendo’s new console, the Switch 2. This possibility, which has been rumored for some time, has been further bolstered by signals from Ubisoft executives.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows May Be Coming to Switch 2

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated at the meeting that “some new versions for other devices” are on the way. While it’s unclear which devices these will be, the most likely candidate outside of existing platforms seems to be the yet-to-be-released Switch 2. The statements didn’t specifically address previous-generation consoles or mobile platforms.

Is Assassin's Creed Shadows Coming to Switch 2?

The company’s CFO, Frederick Duguet, made a comment that further bolstered this possibility. In response to a question from investors, he said, “We have another game coming out for Switch 2,” hinting at a previously unannounced title. Since Star Wars Outlaws has already been announced, this second game is likely Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

The PEGI leak that surfaced in April also supports this scenario. Assassin’s Creed Shadows being rated for Switch 2 is seen as a strong indication before the official announcement. While it’s thought Ubisoft deliberately delayed the timing, an announcement is highly likely in the near future.

Meanwhile, Assassin’s Creed Shadows met Ubisoft’s expectations by quickly reaching 5 million players. Players have reportedly performed 2 billion stealth kills, petted 38 million animals, and traveled a total of 1 billion kilometers. It appears Nintendo users are also waiting in line to join this secret adventure.
