Jim Carrey Stars in The Jetsons Movie
The Jetsons, which blends space-age humor with humor, is being revived in live-action for the first time in years. According to studio reports, Jurassic World: Dominion creator Colin Trevorrow will direct. Trevorrow will co-write the script with Joe Epstein. Jim Carrey, who is expected to portray George Jetson, is returning to the big screen after a long hiatus.
The Jetsons Revives with Jim Carrey
Jim Carrey’s involvement in the project has generated considerable curiosity among both nostalgic fans and new audiences. The actor was previously remembered for his energetic performances in The Mask and Sonic the Hedgehog. Although Carrey had once considered retiring from acting, he stated that he would return when the “right script” came along. It appears The Jetsons was the project that sparked this comeback.
The film will tell the comic and emotional story of George and Jane Jetson, set in the futuristic city of Orbit City. The film will also feature their robot maid, Rosie, and their dog, Astro. The production aims to combine the original series’ retro-futuristic 1960s atmosphere with modern visual effects. Warner Bros. says the film will stand out with both humor and emotion.
Director Colin Trevorrow stated that the film will be “visually ambitious yet character-driven.” The studio describes The Jetsons not only as a throwback project but also as a story exploring family bonds and the impact of technology. Carrey’s energetic style and absurdist take on the character could elevate the project to another level.
The Jetsons adaptation, which has been shelved numerous times over the years, seems to finally be reborn at the right time. With Jim Carrey’s return, the film will both capture the spirit of classic animation and offer a fun glimpse into the future. Filming is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026.
