Johnny Depp May Return to Pirates of the Caribbean
Long-simmering rumors about a sixth installment of Disney’s iconic Pirates of the Caribbean series have been rekindled by recent comments from producer Jerry Bruckheimer. The renowned producer emphasized that the script will be decisive for Johnny Depp‘s return, and made statements that will likely raise fans’ hopes.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Jerry Bruckheimer revealed that he has met with Johnny Depp and believes he could return as Jack Sparrow if he likes the way the role is written. Bruckheimer, adding, “It all depends on the story on paper. If he likes it, I think he’ll do it,” heightened expectations.
Depp’s return has been speculated by various sources throughout 2025. According to The DisInsider, Disney plans to begin production on Pirates of the Caribbean 6 soon, and the possibility of Depp returning as Jack Sparrow is on the table.
Bruckheimer stated last year that the film would be a “reboot,” but that he would definitely include Depp if he had the choice. Emphasizing Depp’s creativity in the creation of Jack Sparrow, the producer said, “That character is completely his. He created a character that wasn’t on paper, a combination of Keith Richards and Pepé Le Pew.”
Meanwhile, the likelihood of a return for the series’ other stars, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, appears quite low. Bloom, while not completely closing the door, hasn’t given a definitive confirmation, saying, “Never say never.” Knightley, however, has openly stated that she doesn’t want to be involved in long-running series due to the draining effects of large production processes.
The official cast of Pirates of the Caribbean 6 hasn’t been announced yet. However, Bruckheimer’s latest comments have fueled expectations that Jack Sparrow could be back on the high seas. If Disney makes an official announcement in the near future, fans of the series could get the news they’ve been waiting for.
