Lara Croft Is Everywhere, But There’s No New Tomb Raider

Players have been eagerly awaiting Lara Croft‘s new adventure for a long time, but the wait is still far from over. Since the release of Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 2018, Lara has appeared in many other games than her own. Having appeared in numerous collaborations, from Fall Guys to Dead by Daylight, Call of Duty to Magic the Gathering, she has most recently joined the World of Tanks universe.

Tomb Raider: Silent, Lara Croft Everywhere

Lara Croft is returning to fans with the new Battle Pass in World of Tanks. Keeley Hawes returns to voice Lara in this collaboration. Her appearance follows the “one design” concept that unites the classic Tomb Raider and the post-2013 reboot trilogy. While the classic braided hair and tank top style remain, the jade necklace familiar from the final trilogy has been added to the mix.

This collaboration not only features Lara, but also Jonah from the reboot trilogy. Even Amanda Evert from the Tomb Raider Legends universe has been added to the list. However, Amanda’s gothic style has been significantly toned down. This has led some fans to question the character’s inclusion in this project, given the timeline.

In 2022, Amazon pledged “full support” to Crystal Dynamics. It was stated that the new Tomb Raider game would be the most comprehensive installment in the series. In 2023, development was reported to be “well underway.” However, since then, layoffs at Crystal Dynamics and continued silence have fueled player concerns.

Embracer announced that the AAA title, scheduled for the 2025/26 fiscal year, has been postponed and will require several more quarters of development. While the company hasn’t named this game, many believe it’s the new Tomb Raider. While Lara Croft’s appearances in various games may evoke nostalgia, fans are now eager to see a new mainline game.
