Marvel’s Favorite Character Excluded from the MCU
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is poised to expand with new characters in the coming period. What’s the Reason Miles Morales Can’t Join the MCU?
While Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige spoke cautiously about many new characters in a recent interview, he made an unexpectedly clear statement about Miles Morales. This statement definitively confirmed that the character will not be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon.
Feige responded briefly and directly to a question about Miles: “This project doesn’t exist. We’ve been told to stay away.” These remarks have put any hopes for the character’s cinematic future on hold for now. While Feige didn’t elaborate on the reason for this restriction, it’s clear the reason behind it is related to agreements made years ago.
Miles Morales has achieved global popularity, particularly with the Spider-Verse series. However, this success also keeps him under Sony’s control. It appears Sony isn’t yet willing to bring the character into the MCU. This affects not only Miles but also other alternative Spider-Man characters.
It’s unlikely that Miles will be included in the MCU before the upcoming Beyond the Spider-Verse film is completed. The film’s delay to 2027 further delays this timeline. Even Secret Wars, one of Marvel’s major productions, will have to move forward without Miles.
Still, hope isn’t completely lost. It’s still possible that Miles Morales could return to other media, perhaps through games or animated projects, rather than the cinematic universe. Marvel hasn’t completely dismissed the character’s impact; it might just be that the time hasn’t come.
