Metal Gear Remake Will Be Decided by Fans
Metal Gear, one of the most established franchises in the gaming world, continues to make a strong name for itself thanks to remakes. Following the release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami took a significant step regarding the series’ future. In a special survey held at Tokyo Game Show 2025, they decided to directly ask players which Metal Gear game they would like to see remade. This development suggests that players will have a say in the future of the series.
Konami Leaves Metal Gear Remake Choices to Players
The METAL GEAR – PRODUCTION HOTLINE survey, shared at TGS 2025, asked players to choose the Metal Gear game they would like to see remade. The list included classics Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, and Metal Gear Solid, as well as more modern installments Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Spin-offs like Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes were also available for players to choose from.
One of the survey‘s most notable points was the absence of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Metal Gear Survive from the list. Survive, in particular, went down in history as the series’ most negatively reviewed installment and was criticized for being the only original Metal Gear game not featuring Hideo Kojima. Rising’s absence can be explained by the game’s distinct structure and its independence from the main series.
One of the most striking choices among players was Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Released in 2015, the game has been the subject of debate for many years due to its lacking second half. Konami’s completion of the game with such a remake would be a great source of satisfaction for series fans.
While no definitive statement has been made yet, this survey demonstrates how much Konami values fan feedback in shaping the series. All eyes are now on which game the Metal Gear community would like to see again. This decision will shape not only nostalgia but also the future of the series.
