Microsoft Aims to Bring Many Capcom Games to Xbox
Microsoft is actively working to resolve the issues Capcom is having with the MT Framework game engine. Fixing these issues could lead to more Capcom games coming to Xbox in the future.
Challenges to Capcom Games Coming to Xbox
According to various sources, the porting of Capcom games to Xbox consoles is experiencing some compatibility and technology issues. In particular, games using Capcom’s in-house game engine, the MT Framework, have completely bypassed the Xbox platform. This engine is known for its high performance and efficient use of hardware resources. Popular games such as the Marvel vs. Capcom series and the Monster Hunter Stories series also use this engine.
Speaking on The Two Xbox podcast, Jez Corden stated that Microsoft is working with Capcom on the ongoing issues with the MT Framework. Corden emphasized that Microsoft has lost control over the Fighting Games Community and that this issue needs to be resolved. He added that the lack of Capcom games on Xbox is a major disadvantage due to Microsoft and Capcom’s technology limitations.
More Capcom games could be on Xbox in the future
MT Framework issues may be a factor in some games not coming to Xbox, but it’s not the only reason. Both Microsoft and Capcom have not made an official statement on the matter. Nevertheless, if the rumors are true, more Capcom games could appear on Xbox consoles with Microsoft’s active involvement.
