Microsoft Asks for More Time for Fable

Microsoft has announced that the Fable remake, which was eagerly awaited by fans, has been postponed from its planned release date in 2025. Xbox Game Studios President Craig Duncan stated in the official Xbox Podcast that this decision was made to make the game perfect. “I have complete confidence in the Playground Games team and I am confident that they will create the most impressive Albion version of Fable that you have ever seen,” Duncan said.

Reason for Fable’s Delay

The Fable remake is being developed by Playground Games, known for the Forza Horizon series, in 2020. Craig Duncan emphasized that the decision to postpone is entirely aimed at what is best for the game and the team. Some pre-alpha images were also shared with the news of the postponement. These images show Albion’s detailed environments, sections from missions, fight scenes and the use of magic.

Duncan said he personally experienced the progress of the game, saying: “I played the city scenes, the missions, a boss fight, and used magic. The game felt great and I was very excited. The work the team did is really impressive.”

The Fable remake aims to give Playground Games’ classic Albion world a modern twist. The game will offer the most detailed and visually impressive version of Albion yet, while maintaining the typical British humor of the previous Fable series. Previously released cinematic trailers confirmed that Richard Ayoade from the IT Crowd series and Matt King, known for his Super Hans character from Peep Show, will be playing a role in the game.

No exact release date has been given for the Fable remake, but it is planned to be released in 2026. In the meantime, fans will be following an announcement expected to be made on March 4, 2025. Microsoft’s decision shows its commitment to improving the quality of the game.
