Microsoft Stops Windows 11 Updates for Ubisoft Games
Microsoft has stopped delivering Windows 11 version 24H2 updates to PCs with certain Ubisoft games installed. The company made this decision after complaints that games from the Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed series crashed after the new Windows update. Microsoft said it is working with Ubisoft to find a solution, and in the meantime advised users not to manually install the Windows 11 24H2 update.
Microsoft Halts Updates After Problems with Ubisoft Games
Following the Windows 11 24H2 update, some Ubisoft games may experience issues. These issues include games not responding when launching, loading or during active gameplay. In some cases, users may see a black screen. Affected games include Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Microsoft said Ubisoft has released a temporary fix to address the crash issues in Star Wars Outlaws, but players may still experience some performance issues. The company advises Windows 11 users not to play the affected games or to delay the Windows 11 24H2 update until the workaround is in place.
Windows 11 is regularly updated to bring new features and improvements to users. However, these updates can sometimes cause unexpected problems. Particularly when it comes to game compatibility, some games may experience performance degradation or crashes after updates. Microsoft and game developers are collaborating to identify and resolve these issues.
Windows 11 users are advised to check for compatibility issues before installing updates. It’s also a good idea to back up important data regularly to avoid potential problems. The permanent solution that Microsoft and Ubisoft are working on is expected to be released as soon as possible.
