With Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns, quick time events might be coming with the latest expansion.
Quick Time Events with Mortal Kombat 1 Khaos Reigns
Mortal Kombat 1 is getting its first story-based DLC later this month, with a new campaign centered around Titan Havok’s mission to bring chaos and anarchy to the universe following the climatic multiversal battle at the end of the base game. This story will bring three new playable characters in Noob Saibot, Sektor, and Cyrax, with another trio of special guest fighters from Scream, Terminator, and Conan the Barbarian to be added later on.
Other features like Animalites have also been confirmed for Mortal Kombat 1’s new Khaos Reigns DLC, and there has been plenty of speculation about what else the new expansion will bring when it arrives on September 24. Recent leaks hinted that with the latest expansion, highly requested Online Practice mode and “Warrior Shrine.” could be added as well.
In the recent released Noob Saibot video, something noticed. As pointed out by Twitter user TrueUnderDawg1, a brief scene featuring Scorpion and Noob Saibot plays out differently in this new trailer than it did when it was shown in a different preview. In the first version, Scorpion throws his kunai at his corrupted brother, who gracefully dodges it. However, in the new trailer, the spear-like weapon manages to pierce Noob Saibot’s arm – as if it were the “failure” animation of a quick-time prompt.
Quick-time events were all the rage in action games by the time they started showing up in NetherRelam games like Injustice and Mortal Kombat 10, allowing players to interact with cutscenes by performing a timed button press. These time-based prompts grew divisive as the years went on though, especially in fighting games like Mortal Kombat.
No information about quick time events has shared yet. But in the video, it looks like Khaos Reigns might be bringing quick time events after Mortal Kombat 11.
