The sequel to Netflix’s 2022 blockbuster Troll is finally back. Director Roar Uthaug pits two legendary creatures against each other in the second installment. The newly released Troll 2 trailer reveals a massive battle that will determine the fate of Norway. The film will be released on Netflix on December 1, 2025.
Troll 2 Trailer Heralds an Even Greater Catastrophe with Megatroll
The first film depicted the chaos unleashed by a troll awakening in the deep mountains of Norway and quickly became one of Netflix’s most popular foreign productions. Reaching 103 million views, this success led to the greenlighting of the second film. Troll 2 tells the story of a brand new catastrophe set in the same universe—this time, the threat comes not from a single giant, but from the clash of two legendary trolls.
The new film sees the return of Ine Marie Wilmann (Nora), Kim Falck (Andreas), and Mads Sjøgård Pettersen (Captain Kris). The trailer shows the trio reunited against a growing wave of destruction across different parts of Norway. The team, seeking new allies by discovering ancient secrets, must stop the troll army that has plunged the country into darkness.
In an interview with Netflix Tudum, Uthaug said the sequel will be “bigger, more action-packed, and more emotional than before.” The director stated, “Anyone who loved the first film will love this one even more. This time, we’re working with two giants, because the story is now too big to support a single troll.”
The final scene of the trailer culminates with the appearance of the giant creature, nicknamed the “Megatroll.” The quality of the visual effects and the sheer scale of the film prepare viewers for an epic supernatural battle. With its blend of mythology and modern action, Troll 2 is poised to be one of the most talked-about Netflix films of the year.
