Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed Series Is Starting to Take Shape

The Assassin’s Creed series, which has been in development for a long time, has finally started to take concrete steps. The scriptwriter team for Netflix’s live-action adaptation has been announced, and the production is planned to meet with viewers in the 2025-2026 broadcast season. The new information shared shows that strong writers in the literary and television fields are involved in the project.

Familiar and Powerful Writers Come Together for Assassin’s Creed

According to information confirmed by the Writers Guild of America (WGA), there are many notable names in the series’ writing team. First among them is Emily St. John Mandel, author of the novels Station Eleven and The Glass Hotel. Mandel was previously the producer of HBO’s Station Eleven series. It is also stated that she is working on PlayStation’s God of War series.

Another important name is Sanaz Toossi, the writer of the play English, which is performed on Broadway. We know the Iranian-origin writer for her sensitivity to cultural narratives. The cast also includes Sam Reynolds, who worked on The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and Tom Hemmings, the producer of the Halo series.

The two main showrunners of the series are David W. Wiener, who was previously a producer on the Halo series, and Roberto Patino, who worked on productions such as Westworld and DMZ. The assistant producers include Claire Kiechel, known for her work on the Watchmen and The Acolyte series, and Jaquén Castellanos, who worked on The Affair series.

The Assassin’s Creed series, which was announced in 2020, has been silent since then. However, Alain Tascan, the head of Netflix’s game content, confirmed last month that the series is still in active development. Die Hard writer Jeb Stuart was also briefly involved in the project.

With the announcement of the new writer and producer team, expectations have risen again for how the Assassin’s Creed universe will be brought to television screens. More information is expected to be shared on the subject in the coming period.
