The New Crazy Taxi Game: An Open World Multiplayer Experience
The team noted that there have been some challenges in transitioning from a single-player experience to a live-service multiplayer model, but that they are now making great strides in the development process. Sega’s Sapporo Studio emphasized that the city was designed with realism and a sense of freedom in mind, offering players a wealth of activities to explore in a ‘theme park-like environment’.
The trailer featured police chases, stunt-based modes and general exploration footage as other players simultaneously carry out missions around the world. Sega’s team revealed that car design and customization is also an important element. They also shared footage of artists working on character models, which means players will be able to travel on foot.
Ultimately, the video felt like a recruitment campaign, with the various teams working on the game, from art to level design, talking about what they do and how they interact with this developing game. As the video ended, the head of the studio asked those interested to apply for a job at Sega.
