Players noticed that developers clearly restored some content about Minthara in the recent released Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 New Minthara Detail
In any game on the scale of Baldur’s Gate 3, there’s bound to be tons of cut content that didn’t make it into the game in time for release. Because of the popularity of the game, players are naturally curious about Baldur’s Gate 3’s cut content, and Larian has knowingly used a lot of it in its post-launch patches. Some content is cut for different reasons, rather than simply being unfinished sometimes it just doesn’t fit the game’s direction.
As first reported by The Gamer, it appears that Baldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 8 has restored some important dialogue about Minthara’s backstory. A YouTube video by user Finrod Felagund shows that when using the “Speak with Dead” spell on Minthara’s corpse, she now mentions having a daughter. This is never mentioned anywhere else in the game, and it’s not clear whether she’s talking about an existing or unborn child. There are numerous answers she gives during “Speak with Dead” that, post-Patch 8, now reference this child, raising more questions than answers.
This appears to be the only area where this Baldur’s Gate 3 Minthara content has been restored. It was previously known that unused dialogue exists in the game files featuring companions acknowledging Minthara becoming pregnant during the game’s story, although none of this has been re-added in Patch 8. This then raises the question of whether Larian has unintentionally reactivated this Minthara child dialogue, as the game currently lacks the full context for it to make sense.
Larian is largely done with Baldur’s Gate 3, with development on its next title now underway. Fans shouldn’t expect to hear from the studio for a while yet, with the scale of Larian titles requiring plenty of time to complete.
