New Dragon Ball Project to be Announced Very Soon
An exciting time is dawning for Dragon Ball fans. Bandai Namco has announced that it is working on an all-new Dragon Ball game project to commemorate the legendary series’ 40th anniversary. According to the official announcement, the project will be unveiled at the Genkidamatsuri event in Japan on January 25, 2026.
Dragon Ball’s 40th Anniversary Will Be Celebrated with a Brand New Game
The announcement of the new project comes on the heels of last week’s announcement of the Dragon Ball FighterZ update and the news of a new DLC character arriving in Spring 2026. Bandai Namco describes these developments as “the beginning of a grand celebration for the future of the series.”
According to the event schedule, the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event, scheduled for January 25th, will feature multiple special panels. The first details about the new Dragon Ball game are expected to be shared during the “New Game Super Announcement Stage.” Masako Nozawa, the legendary voice of Goku, producer Akio Iyoku, and musician Hironobu Kageyama will also perform at the event.
The genre of the new game has not yet been announced, but Bandai Namco’s statements indicate that the project will bring a “fresh breath” to the series. Leaked information suggests the game could offer a larger-scale action experience, a departure from the traditional fighting system. Some fans are speculating that it could be an open-world project, similar to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.
The timing of the event is also noteworthy. Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero will be released for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in December, while new expansion packs for the game are scheduled to be announced in early 2026. It’s also highly likely that the new project, announced around the same time, will be connected to the series’ current gaming universe.
As the Dragon Ball franchise celebrates its 40th anniversary, it’s no surprise that Bandai Namco is celebrating this special occasion with a new game. There’s high anticipation for the series’ future. With the January announcement, it’s clear that Goku and his friends are poised to shake up the gaming world once again.
