New God Of War Game Could Focus On Kratos’ Family
Santa Monica Studio, which has been silent about the God of War universe for a long time, has come to the fore in a different way this time. According to rumors, the new God of War game being developed will focus on his brother Deimos instead of Kratos. The game will be in the Metroidvania genre, deviating from the classic structure, and will take place in Greek mythology.
The Deimos Era Begins in the God of War Universe
According to the information shared by one of the reliable sources, Shpeshal_Nick, in Discord chats, the new game will take place in Greek mythology and players will control Kratos’ brother Deimos. Nick states that the genre of this side game is Metroidvania and that its announcement will be made in 2025. This means that we may see a brand new gameplay style in the series.
Another leak on the ResetEra platform confirms this information. According to the same source, the game will take place in the period before Kratos became a god. It is claimed that independent developer Mega Cat Studios is also involved in the production, which was developed under the supervision of Santa Monica Studio. It is also stated that the game is largely inspired by the dark atmosphere Metroidvania game called Blasphemous.
Although three years have passed since the release of God of War: Ragnarok, a new game that will continue the main story has not been announced. However, the information received shows that the series will progress with a side game this time. This different style, where Kratos’ brother Deimos is at the center, could bring a new breath to the series. However, all this information has not yet been officially confirmed. Players and fans need to wait for official announcements for definitive statements.
