Next-Gen Xbox Enters Design Phase

After keeping quiet for a long time, Microsoft has finally made the official announcement about its next-generation Xbox console. Xbox Head Sarah Bond announced in an interview that the new device is currently in the prototype and design stages. This new hardware, developed in partnership with AMD, promises to be a major leap forward in the company’s hardware vision.

Sarah Bond: “Next-Gen Xbox Currently in Development”

Speaking to Variety, Sarah Bond shared important information about the future of the Xbox ecosystem. Bond said, “We are working on new hardware for the future. The next-generation Xbox is in development, and we are in strong partnership with AMD.” This announcement officially marks the beginning of a new era following the Xbox Series X|S.

Bond also emphasized that the next-generation Xbox will coexist with the existing ecosystem, rather than replace it. He noted that Microsoft’s recent investments in portable gaming systems (such as the ROG Ally and Ally X) aim to diversify the gaming experience. “Our goal is to offer players different ways to play. This isn’t about replacing consoles; it’s about creating innovation and variety,” he said.

Microsoft describes this new Xbox generation as “the biggest technological leap forward in hardware to date.” The company’s long-term partnership with AMD suggests the console will feature a faster, more efficient, and AI-enabled architecture. According to leaked information, the console will utilize AMD’s next-generation ‘Magnus’ APU, offering high performance, energy efficiency, and advanced AI processing capabilities.

While an official release date hasn’t been announced yet, reports suggest a 2027 release date, roughly coinciding with Sony’s plans for the PlayStation 6. If this prediction proves true, 2027 will mark a new turning point in console competition. It’s clear that this time around, Microsoft wants to stand out not only with powerful hardware but also with a broad gaming ecosystem.
