Nintendo Switch 2 Highly Hopeful for Sales
Nintendo announced a significant decline in profits in its fiscal year results ending in March. However, the company’s executives aim to turn the tables with the launch of the Switch 2 console in June. The new version, which will follow the current Switch model, which is in its eighth year, is at the center of the company’s renewed growth expectations.
Expectations Are Quite High for the Switch 2
Nintendo lost 43% of its profits in the 2023-2024 fiscal year. However, despite this decline, the company plans to increase its sales again in the new period thanks to the Switch 2 console. The sales target set for the new model, which will be released in June, is quite ambitious: 15 million units are expected to be sold by March 2026. This clearly shows the company’s confidence in its new console.
Although demand for the current Switch model has decreased over the years, the total number of players worldwide remains above 128 million. This shows that Nintendo already has a large user base. The company wants to retain this audience and attract new players with the Switch 2.
One of the most important factors that will support the sales of the new console will be the game library. Nintendo announced that new games from popular series such as The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon and Kirby, as well as third-party productions, will be released for the Switch 2 during the year. These games are among the main elements that will increase the appeal of the console.
Nintendo is also increasing its investments in the physical space. A new Nintendo store will open in San Francisco this month and the Super Nintendo World amusement park will open in Orlando. Such initiatives aim to increase the overall visibility of the brand along with the Switch 2. Nintendo expects an 8% increase in profits and a 63% increase in sales in the new fiscal year.
