The company’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, announced in a meeting that they are “taking risks” and advancing their production processes in order to respond to demand. Nintendo, which does not want to repeat the stock problems experienced during the first Switch launch in 2017, wants to be more prepared this time.

Switch 2 Production and Release Plans

Furukawa stated that it will not be easy to rapidly increase the production capacity of the Switch 2. However, he stated that they will take measures to respond to demand quickly based on past experiences. The console’s production details will be announced with the business plan for the new fiscal year, which will begin in April.

One of the biggest expectations for the Switch 2 is that the console will come with next-generation games. Furukawa emphasized the importance of special software for console launches. It is known that a new Mario Kart game is being developed for the Switch 2, but it is not yet clear whether this game will be compatible with the first Switch.

Nintendo confirmed that the Switch 2 will offer backward compatibility with previous Switch games. However, no statement has been made yet about the price of the new console. The price and other details are expected to be shared at the Switch 2 Direct event to be held on April 2.

On the other hand, it was stated that there will be no change in the price of the original Switch for now. Nintendo aims to continue the success of the original Switch, which has sold more than 150 million units to date. The popularity of the console further increases the interest in the Switch 2. The company emphasizes that despite the risks in the production process, they are capable of meeting this demand.
