NVIDIA Unveils OptiX 9 With New Graphics Optimizations
NVIDIA has introduced new tools that will revolutionize the world of gaming and graphics development. The OptiX 9 library makes light and geometry simulations faster and more efficient, while Neural Texture Compression (NTC) technology promises lower data usage and higher performance in games. These innovations aim to provide great convenience especially for game developers and designers. So, what exactly do these tools offer?
Faster Geometry Processing with RTX Mega Geometry
One of the most striking features of OptiX 9, RTX Mega Geometry, accelerates the processing of massive dynamic triangle networks. This technology will make a big difference, especially in games and movies where large scenes need to be visualized. Mega Geometry is optimized to provide the best performance on NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series (Blackwell) graphics cards.
In addition, OptiX 9 introduces a new API called Cooperative Vectors, which allows small AI networks powered by NVIDIA Tensor Cores to be integrated into shader programs. Thanks to this, light and shadow calculations can be made much more precisely and realistically.
Neural Texture Compression (NTC) is a technology that reduces memory consumption by compressing textures used in games. This feature allows textures to be recreated when necessary using an AI model instead of being stored with traditional methods. For example, the color, brightness and detail information of a surface such as wood, metal or fabric are combined in a single compressed file. NTC offers lower hardware requirements by allowing games to use less disk space, PCIe and VRAM. Although NVIDIA states that all graphics cards that support Shader Model 6 can use NTC, it says that the best results will be obtained on RTX 20 series and above cards.
OptiX 9 and Neural Texture Compression are candidates to set a new standard in the world of graphics development. These innovative tools from NVIDIA enable both game developers and designers to produce faster, more efficient, and more realistic content. We will all see how these technologies will transform the world of gaming and design in the coming period.
