Onimusha Games Prices Increase Ahead of Way of the Sword
Capcom’s announcement of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which will be released in 2026, has increased demand for older games in the series. This has led to serious price increases, especially in second-hand sales of PlayStation 2-era Onimusha games. Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, released in 2004, experienced the most notable price increase, rising to an average of $60.
Demand for Old Onimusha Games Increased
Following the announcement of Way of the Sword at The Game Awards last year, many players took action to return to the series or experience these classic games for the first time. This interest has led to an increase in prices, especially for games on PlayStation 2 such as Onimusha: Warlords, Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, and Onimusha 3: Demon Siege.
According to PriceCharting data, Onimusha: Warlords sells for around $11, while Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny sells for around $15. However, this increase is more noticeable in the third and fourth games of the series. Onimusha 3 went from $20 to $25, while Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams went from $40 to $60.
One of the most affected by the price increases was the Onimusha: Warlords remaster version released in 2018. The price of physical copies went from $15-20 to $60. In some sales, this price was seen to reach $80. Fortunately, this game can be found on digital platforms at more affordable prices.
It was also announced that Capcom will release the Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny remaster version on May 23, 2025. With this remaster, players who want to experience the series will be able to access these legendary games without having to deal with high second-hand prices. Capcom’s return to the Onimusha series has rekindled interest in the old games. With the release of the new game Way of the Sword approaching, it seems that the demand for the classic games of the series will continue to increase.
