PlayStation Plus Will Focus on PS5 Next Year
Sony has announced that it will focus on PS5 games starting in 2026 by making a significant change to its PlayStation Plus service. The statement stated that many players now prefer PS5 games, which they play on PS5 and benefit from the monthly games and game catalog. With this change, PS4 games will no longer be the main focus and will only be offered occasionally. However, PS4 games that were previously added to the library via PlayStation Plus will continue to be played as long as the subscription continues.
What Do the Changes to PlayStation Plus Include?
Sony emphasized that they are constantly improving the benefits offered by PlayStation Plus according to the needs of players. As of 2026, the monthly free games and game catalog will primarily include PS5 games. PS4 games will only be offered in some cases. However, it was announced that cross-compatible games that can be played on both PS4 and PS5 platforms may also be offered to players from time to time.
Additionally, PS Plus users will not lose access to previously requested PS4 games. Sony stated, “Your access to all games you have previously added to your library will continue for as long as your subscription continues.”
Sony announced that with this change, it will add new PS5 games to the PlayStation Plus service every month. This move is aimed to add more value to PS5 users and expand the console’s player base. In addition, advantages such as online multiplayer access, special discounts, and cloud game saves will continue to be offered as part of the subscription.
Sony’s strategic change reflects the rise of the PS5 in the market and the slow replacement of the PS4 by the next-generation console. PlayStation Plus users are preparing to meet more PS5 content in 2026. This change is seen as the beginning of a new era in the PlayStation ecosystem.
