PS5 Pro’s Biggest Problem Is Being Solved

The PS5 Pro has been the target of criticism for its high price and performance issues since its release in November 2024. The console, which attracts attention with its $ 700 price tag, underperformed in some games, especially due to glitches in Sony’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology. The image shaking and performance issues experienced in games such as Silent Hill 2 Remake and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor have led to backlash from users. However, Sony is working hard to solve these issues.

PSSR Issues and Sony’s Work

PSSR, one of the most distinctive features of the PS5 Pro, aimed to increase resolution and ray tracing performance in games. However, this technology not only did not have the expected effect in some games, but also caused performance drops. Sony realized this situation and began working on improvements to PSSR.

According to a developer, Sony has tested several different versions of PSSR technology and released successive updates to fix these issues. Finally, improvements are also reported to be made to hardware ray tracing (RT) implementations. These updates aim to significantly reduce flickering issues in games while improving PSSR’s performance.

Sony aims to regain user confidence by resolving these technical issues experienced by the PS5 Pro. 2025 will be an important year for the console, as major games such as Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and GTA 6 are expected to push the PS5 Pro’s hardware power to the limit. Sony’s positioning of the PS5 Pro as a more powerful product will play a critical role in the performance and user experience of these games.
