Quantic Dream Introduces Spellcasters Chronicles

Quantic Dream, known for story-driven games like Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human, is moving in a completely different direction in the gaming world. The company is launching its first multiplayer project. Spellcasters Chronicles is being introduced as a free-to-play team-based action game featuring 3v3 wizard battles. Players will choose from support, tank, or attack-focused wizards to compete in the arena.

Spellcasters Chronicles Launches a New Era for Quantic Dream

“Working in a new genre has been both challenging and enriching for us,” said studio founder David Cage in a statement. Developed in the Paris and Montreal studios, the game aims to offer strategic gameplay with over 50 spell and creature summon cards. Cage emphasized that player feedback will shape the game’s future.

Creative director Gregorie Diaconu stated that the project was born with the aim of bringing storytelling to a multiplayer world. “While different from our previous games, Spellcasters Chronicles allows players to shape the story together,” he said. This statement suggests that the game will retain the classic Quantic Dream narrative structure but this time, transform it into a shared experience.

Spellcasters Chronicles will be Quantic Dream’s first game since 2018’s Detroit: Become Human. The game will enter closed beta on PC in late 2025, with registrations currently open. It will also be unveiled live at this weekend’s TwitchCon event.

The studio is also continuing its Star Wars: Eclipse project. However, this new game demonstrates that Quantic Dream can be not only a storyteller but also a leading developer in the competitive multiplayer scene in the future.
