Reason for Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delay Revealed
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to release on March 20, 2025, and the reason for the game’s latest delay has been revealed. Ubisoft announced that they focused on the parkour system by taking player feedback into account. The game’s director, Charles Benoit, stated that it was necessary to develop special animations and codes due to the “super complex roofs” in Japanese architecture. This extra effort was made to make the parkour mechanics more fluid.

Benoit emphasizes that Japanese architecture has a much more complex structure than other Assassin’s Creed games. The design of the roofs has been one of the biggest factors affecting the parkour system in particular. Benoit said, “The most complex thing I worked on compared to Odyssey and Syndicate was the Japanese roofs,” and added that these designs caused problems in parkour transitions. The development team rearranged the parkour animations and transition systems to solve these problems.
The delay was used not only to make the parkour mechanics more interesting, but also to make the progression system more interesting and to ensure the overall balance of the game. Ubisoft states that these adjustments will provide players with a more satisfying experience.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which was originally scheduled to be released in November 2024, was postponed to February 2025, then to March 2025. Most of the postponements were made in response to player feedback. Players seem to appreciate the fluidity of the game’s parkour system and its sensitivity to environmental details. Another notable innovation is the Animus Hub, part of Ubisoft’s long-awaited Assassin’s Creed Infinity platform, which will be included in the game. This feature aims to offer an expanded universe for players.
